To remember: The advantage of a vectorized file is that it can be enlarged ad infinitum without ever losing quality.
When customizing a children's game (puzzle, board, cards, etc.), it's essential to have a sharp, precise visual. There are two main formats for an image or drawing:
- Raster format (JPEG, PNG, PSD)
- Vector format (AI, EPS, PDF, SVG)
A vector file can be enlarged (zoomed) without ever becoming blurred or pixelated. This is particularly important when printing in large format or when you want to guarantee high-quality rendering.
On the other hand, a raster file (JPEG or PNG) has its limits: when enlarged, it quickly becomes pixelated and blurred.
If the image you send (drawing, illustration, logo, etc.) is of good quality, clean and large enough, it may sometimes be suitable for printing, as long as it doesn't need to be enlarged significantly. Otherwise, please ask the Studio for a quote to render your illustrations or logo in vector format.
Tips for successful printing
- Provide a file in CMYK color mode (suitable for printing).
- Ensure a minimum resolution of 300 dpi for optimum rendering.
Vectorized files are preferable for anything that needs to be reproduced in large format or with precision (e.g. your restaurant's logo on a puzzle or illustrations on a game board).
If your drawing or logo was made in Word or PowerPoint, it is not vectorized.
Warning: saving an image as .ai, .eps or .pdf does not mean it is vectorized.
The best way to check is to enlarge the image. If it becomes blurred or pixelated, it's not vectorized.
