How do airlines manage the reception of their young customers with welcome packs?

Forget the airline welcome kit, one of the classic ways marketers attract high-end passengers with high-end gifts.

The new trend for airlines is to offer welcome packs, which include toys, games, puzzles, enhanced videos and even new meals, all aimed at children.

By catering to young children, airlines assume that a happy child makes for happy parents and, more importantly, happy passengers. Because sitting next to unruly children is never a good thing on a medium or long-haul flight.

Some of the airlines that have opted for this approach for children

QATAR AIRWAYS offers an activity pack for children with pencils and stickers and an activity book filled with puzzles, stories and coloring pages. Babies receive a soft pillow and an interactive sleep mask.

The airline also offers a new entertainment program for children. It includes family movies and video games that change monthly, and children's TV shows. And don't forget about a meal box with Hasbro surprise games.

QUANTAS AIRWAYS offers a welcome kit with an activity book, puzzles and word games and even an "Etch a Sketch" toy. On some international flights, kids receive colorful non-slip socks to wear on board. Interactive games, Kinderling radio, audio books, and video games are also available.

AIR FRANCE: Young travelers aged 3 to 11 who order a meal for children will receive a pastel-colored metal box from Air France cabin crew.

On long-haul flights*, Air France offers children games and coloring pages adapted to their age. An entertainment offer is also available: cartoons, new cinema releases for the general public, and a children's radio channel.

LUFTHANSA: The company offers a special package for children suitable for all ages, with many fun activities to make the flying experience as entertaining as possible for youngsters. Inspired by flying airplanes, it focuses on children's fascination with airplanes and encourages them to be creative, allowing them to feel like pilots themselves, especially when they fill out their captain's logbook!

A children's menu is also designed by celebrity chef Alexander Hermann. Aviation games with the characters Lu and Cosmo are also offered with coloring and a DIY game to create a great paper plane.

TURKISH AIRLINES offers several welcome packs for children.

They receive a bag of three sustainably made wooden figurines, such as pandas and soldiers, and a comfort kit including a child-sized helmet, a dental kit, socks and slippers.

The purpose of the toys and videos offered is to keep children calm and entertained. In addition, reduced prices for infants are to be found on their site.

InSINGAPORE AIRLINES, cabin crew distribute toys to children according to their age. Infants, for example, receive stuffed animals, while preschoolers receive mini puzzles, and older children receive a Monopoly Deal card game.

The airline plans to change the toys quarterly. Young passengers can also choose from a children's menu of more than a dozen products. Interactive kids games are also offered on the seat screens.

Flying can be a difficult experience for everyone, especially for young children. It is also advisable for parents to prepare for the trip so that they can be better accepted during the flight. For example, a small pre-written note to hand out if your child has a tantrum.

As consumers, we are increasingly aware of our ecological impact, especially since on international flights it is often difficult to recycle waste for human health and biosecurity reasons.

Fortunately, the demand for green solutions is being driven by environmentally conscious travelers and regulatory agencies. At Welcome Family, we have anticipated this trend by using appropriate materials and offering eco-friendly games.
