The Chinese New Year is coming soon!

And if this week, we talk about the Chinese New Year? To begin with, what does it consist of? We hear about it every year, it does not fall on New Year's Day... But what is this celebration? The Chinese New Year is simply a passage to the next year, based on the Chinese Calendar. Their calendar being lunisolar, it varies from one year to another, but always falls on the new moon since the winter solstice, between January 21 and February 19.

And this year, it falls this Friday, February 16!

So for the occasion, we wanted to mark the occasion and let you discover the Chinese traditions of this celebration.

The celebration includes a New Year's Eve, with many dishes, such as boiled ravioli or Niangao, a sticky rice cake. Then follows a long night of vigil, which is a sign of longevity. The Chinese use this night by playing mahjong or by distributing gifts. During this vigil, it is not uncommon to light firecrackers with wicks, which aim to chase away bad influences.

The Chinese New Year is therefore a festival that allows people to get closer to their loved ones during the reunion, in order to get rid of the bad influences of the past year, and to welcome the auspicious signs.

But what impact does this holiday have on the rest of the world?

First of all, you should know that most Chinese shops close their doors 2 to 3 weeks before the New Year! It is thus a whole part of the activity which stops, and those during 3 to 4 weeks. It is thus necessary to know how to plan the orders with a great advance at the arrival of the Chinese New Year, in order not to be taken short in its deliveries.

Moreover, it is necessary to be vigilant when the Chinese activity starts again. The time for the machine to restart, it sometimes happens that the delays are a little longer.
