Home delivery is easily equated with students or young workers, a misconception especially during school vacations. According to a study conducted by Yougov in February 2022 in partnership with the meal application Deliveroo, families are also tempted by home delivery. Indeed, in many ways this mode of consumption facilitates life and meals for families with children of all ages.

As proof, during school vacations, the Delivroo application records an increase in orders for children's menus, as in February 2021, with an increase of +15%. An opportunity that only 6% of restaurants on the Deliveroo platform seize by offering a simple or elaborate children's menu.


Why should restaurants take into account the children's menu in their menu (especially during school vacations)?

The children's menu is an advantage and above all an opportunity toexpand their clientele. A small burger, fries and a quarter of an apple can be considered as a menu, simple and effective. A menu that can be very profitable when you know that it appeals to many families

Remember that 70% of parents on the application choose dishes like the burger or hot dog. For parents, vacations are the time to enjoy a maximum with their children, so the meals chosen are simple for a day essentially attributed to family activities.


The children's menu, a way to build family loyalty in home delivery?

Home delivery is said to be "more favorable" in large cities like Paris, Lyon and Marseille. For several reasons: the number of restaurants, the number of delivery people and obviously the number of people; and yet the smaller cities are not neglected for all that. The difference between these cities in terms of home delivery is the competition.

Increased competition in the metropolises leads to a single goal for delivery apps: differentiation. Knowing how to target a type of person that takes precedence over a certain type of service. In a few figures, 77% of parents living in a large city have already used a delivery app for family meals, and among them, more than 4 out of 10 parents reorder several times a month. To find such an opportunity in a child menu is to be seized.


As families' meal delivery habits evolve, this is an opportunity to meet their expectations. Children's menu or not, the main thing is to offer a meal adapted to children, to include them in the same way as parents. Without forgetting the surprise toy !
