Welcoming children at the heart of the Ronald McDonald Foundation!

Welcoming children at the heart of the Ronald McDonald Foundation!

Thousands of children are hospitalized each year and separated from their families. The Ronald McDonald Foundation will allow families and hospitalized children to stay together to overcome this ordeal. Touched by their struggles, we wanted to introduce you to this organization that is committed to welcoming children and their parents.

The vision of the Ronald McDonald Foundation

McDonald's Restaurants, along with the Fondation de France, created the Ronald McDonald Foundation in 1994. This organization is committed to caring for families in the hardships that can arise during the life of a child. Since its creation, the Ronald McDonald Foundation has welcomed 46,000 families in 9 Houses of Parents built in France and supported projects to help children and parents.

The Foundation's mission

A child's life can go through difficult times, and hospitalization is an ordeal for both the child and the parents. It is important, at such times, that the child be surrounded by his or her family. The support of the family is the first step towards recovery. This is where the Ronald McDonald Foundation will intervene by accompanying the families. It will set up Parents' Houses near hospitals as well as Parenthèses spaces to welcome families.

The Ronald McDonald Houses

9 Houses of Parents have already been built in France in the cities of Bordeaux, Grenoble, Marseille, Limoges, Lille, Nantes, Strasbourg, Toulouse and Villejuif. The Ronald McDonald Foundation has built them less than 5 minutes walk from a hospital to welcome the families of hospitalized children. The houses can accommodate families in rooms of 2 to 5 people. Common areas are also available, kitchen, playroom, dining room... will allow the well-being and comfort of the families. These living spaces also represent a place of exchange and support between the different families of hospitalized children welcomed in the House.

The Parenthèses

In order for the families to be closer to the children in these difficult moments, the Ronald McDonald Foundation has set up Parenthèses spaces within the hospital. Next to the pediatric services, the Parentheses are composed of playrooms, rest areas and meal areas... These are ways for hospitalized children to avoid thinking about the hospital, to stay with their family in a less medical context and to exchange with other people.

Donations from Welcome Family

Because we share the same values as the Ronald McDonald Foundation, it was important for us to support this association that takes care of children and their parents. As the official supplier of baby chairs to McDonald's restaurants Welcome Family has donatedHappy Baby Chairs to each of the Parents' Houses. We wanted to support the families of hospitalized children by providing them with equipment to improve their comfort. The little ones will be able to share moments with their family while sitting down to eat. The first feedback is already very positive:

"The chair found its place well, available to families, in our dining room and thus was able to replace the previous high chair that we had to get rid of because it was too old and no longer adapted to the babies in the House."
